Position: Chief Accountant
Location: Ho Chi Minh City
Department: Engineering

1     Responsibilities

Accounting Operations (40%)

Transaction Processing

• Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded accurately.

• Check all invoices and full attachments and prepare payment orders in cash or bank.

• Print payment slips, vouchers, cash book, and bank book daily to send to the cashier for payment.

Financial Statements & Reporting

• Process balance sheets, income statements, and other financial statements in accordance with legal and company guidelines.

• Collect, analyse, and summarise account information to develop periodic reports (yearly, quarterly, monthly, weekly, and daily) for management and government submission.

• Prepare monthly and yearly closings of balance and accounting books.

• Prepare monthly profit and loss reports (deadline: 31st of following month) and cash flow reports including forecast (deadline: 31st of each month).

Tax, Compliance & Audit (30%)

Tax & Regulatory

• Compute taxes and prepare tax returns, balance sheet, and profit/loss statements.

• Keep up-to-date with financial policies, regulations, and legislation.

• Contact and work with tax and government officers whenever required.

• Handle bank transactions and liaise with government authorities for accounting and tax matters.

• Be responsible for transfer pricing documentation and reports.

Audit & Controls

• Audit financial transactions and ensure correct document accounting control procedures.

• Keep information confidential and secure with regular database backups.

• Liaise with auditors to ensure appropriate monitoring of company finances.

Financial Management & Advisory (30%)

Budget & Forecasting

• Prepare budget and financial forecasts and compare with previous years.

• Track the company's financial status and performance to identify areas for improvement and cost savings.

• Make regular presentations and proposals to management regarding cost improvements, expenses, and efficiency of financial operations.

Leadership & Strategy

• Guide, assist, train, and supervise staff in the accounting department.

• Establish, maintain, and improve financial policies and procedures for the company group.

• Review expenses, payroll records, insurance, and union statistics as assigned.

• Advise on investment activities and provide financial strategies for the company and its global entities.

• Perform other tasks as assigned by Line Manager.

2      Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• CPA or CMA certification is preferred.

• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and corporate finance.

• Proficiency in MS Office and excellent accounting software skills.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

• Strong communication skills with tax officers and government authorities.

• Proven experience as an accountant or Chief Accountant in a relevant field.

Essential

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.

• CPA or CMA certification preferred.

• Proven experience leading an accounting department.

• Strong knowledge of Vietnamese accounting standards and financial reporting requirements.

• Excellent MS Office and accounting software proficiency.

• High attention to detail and commitment to confidentiality.

Desirable

• Prior experience in a civil engineering, structural design, or construction-related company is an advantage.

• Basic knowledge of German language or experience working in a German/European company environment is a plus.
